Economically Disadvantaged Schools Program

Maximize Your Impact with a 99% Tax Credit

Overview

The Pennsylvania Legislature’s recent budget approval has significantly enhanced the Economically Disadvantaged Schools (EDS) program, raising the tax credit from 90% to 99% for all donations directed to EDS-qualifying schools. This increased incentive is a game-changer for donors who want to maximize their tax credit refunds while making a substantial difference in the lives of students from underserved communities.

BLOCS is the sole administrator for the EDS Program in Pennsylvania, and we are here to support you through the entire donation process, making it as seamless as possible.

Program Benefits

  • 99% Tax Credit: With the new state budget, your contributions to the EDS program now qualify for a 99% tax credit, maximizing the return on your donation.

  • No Cap for Corporate Donors: Corporations can donate any amount to the EDS program, with no cap on the tax credit benefit.

  • Significant Impact: Because the state identifies the participating schools based on pre-selected criteria, your organization can be assured that your donation is going directly into the hands of the students who need it most.

  • No-Fee Contribution: Because BLOCS recognizes the critical need the EDS program is designed to address, it absorbs all costs to administer the program so 100% of your donation funds scholarships.

How It Works

  1. Apply Directly to the State: Corporations must apply directly to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). BLOCS will guide you through this process.

  2. Receive Your Approval Letter: After your application is approved by the DCED, make your payment to BLOCS. These funds will be restricted until they are ready to be distributed to eligible schools.

  3. Fund Scholarships: Your donation will be directed to schools that qualify for the EDS program, providing essential scholarships to students in need. Because the state identifies the participating schools based on pre-selected criteria, your organization can be assured that your donation is going directly into the hands of the students who need it most.

  4. Enjoy the 99% Tax Credit*: Once the process is complete, your company will receive a 99% tax credit, making this an incredibly efficient way to fulfill your corporate social responsibility goals. Because BLOCS recognizes the critical need the EDS program is designed to address, it absorbs all costs to administer the program so 100% of your donation funds scholarships.
