Financial Information
BLOCS distributes millions of dollars each year to aid families in providing their children a quality education. FY23 total revenue caps off the largest 5-year growth trends in the company’s history, with goals set even higher for FY24 and beyond.
More than $0.96 of every dollar donated to BLOCS is redistributed directly in the form of need-based scholarships to local students and families. As the largest scholarship organization, serving the community for more than forty years, BLOCS has earned public trust by carefully stewarding every dollar that passes through our organization. Our program spending vs, operating costs hovers around 3.6% vs. the national nonprofit average of 23%.
Most of our revenue is generated from the Pennsylvania DCED-funded tax credit program, while the balance of fundraising revenue is provided by individuals and corporate donors, support our annual fund and endowment. We are deeply committed to reporting to our constituents regarding our operational efficiency, transparency, and alignment with our mission.
As a nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal taxation, we ensure donors’ money is spent as efficiently and effectively as possible. For more information regarding these cost allocations, we invite you to view our audited financial statements and Form 990.
BLOCS has earned the 2023 Platinum Seal of Transparency from GuideStar. The Platinum Seal, the highest rating offered, indicates that BLOCS shares clear and important information with the public about our goals, strategies, capabilities, achievements and progress indicators that highlight the difference we make in the greater Philadelphia area and across the state of PA.
