Bill Mills is the former president of PNC Bank’s Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey region, a position he held for 13 years. Mills retired in 2014, after having spent 43 years in the banking community. He joined PNC in 1989 and served in several leadership roles before becoming regional president in 2001.

Mills, who remains on PNC’s regional advisory board, started his career as a vice president in the bond trading unit of Merrill Lynch Government Securities Inc., moved to Industrial Valley Bank as senior vice president and treasurer, and then became managing director at CoreStates Financial Corp. (now Wells Fargo).

Mills joined PNC in 1989 as treasurer and president of the PNC Funding Corp., and later became senior vice president of fixed-income investments. He was promoted to executive vice president in 1993, managing capital market activities for PNC’s Eastern Region. Prior to being named regional president, Mills served as executive vice president in charge of PNC Advisors in Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.

In late 2012, Mills received the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce’s William Penn Award, the highest honor the organization bestows on a member.

Mills serves on the board of directors of Independence Blue Cross, The United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, American Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania and Temple University. He also serves on the Thomas Skelton Harrison Foundation, the executive committee of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce (GPCC) Board and the Police Athletic League Emeritus. He served as BLOCS Chairman of the Board from 2002-2005.
