Matt Topley is Founder and President of Lansing Street Advisors, overseeing the delivery of investment, wealth protection, wealth transfer, business exit planning and life strategy advice. Lansing Street Advisors has grown to $350 million in assets under management since its founding in 2020.
During an accomplished 25-year career in finance, Matt ran trading for a $1.5 Billion dollar hedge fund, created and ran a concentrated small cap stock fund called the Convergence Fund for 5 years, and founded the Lansing Street Real Estate Fund with $50m in assets. Matt has contributed to raising over $100m for private real estate investments.
Before founding Lansing, Matt served as partner and chief investment officer at a Philadelphia family office serving ultra-high net worth entrepreneurs. Prior to the family office, Matt was on the trading desk and partner at Turner Investments for 17 years, participating in assets growing from $1.5B to $30B.
In addition to the day to day operations of Lansing Street Advisors, Matt writes the daily View from the Top Blog , an industry newsletter covering trends and technical analysis. He is the author of the weekly “Smarter in 10 Minutes” newsletter and frequently appears in The Philadelphia Inquirer, US News and World Report, Advisor Perspectives, and other national media outlets. A frequent speaker at professional advisor conferences, he has appeared on Wharton Business Radio with Jeremy Siegal and Kitces Nerd’s Eye View Podcast.
Matt has a unique global perspective on investing he gained from two decades as trader and CIO. While doing his graduate work, he had the opportunity to explore the world, studying in Shanghai, Beijing, Toronto, and Prague. Matt’s desire to make a positive difference, both in his clients lives and in the community at large, is evident both inside and outside the office. Matt is dedicated to charitable organizations, devoting both time and expertise. He has a special focus on urban students and first generation college students.
Matt has been on the BLOCS board for 15 years, including 4 years as chairman, 5 years as head of investment committee and 10 years on executive committee. He also served over 10 years on Holy Family University Board including executive committee and chair of investment committee.
Matt earned a Masters of Arts in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania, an MBA from LaSalle University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Holy Family University.
