Robert Delany is an innovator in organizational growth and development. He has a unique ability to inspire and mobilize the combined disciplines of strategy, finance, technology, human resources, and operations to achieve outsized goals. He has experience in stakeholder alignment, organizational development, and business strategy. He has led turnarounds, Initial Public Offerings, Management Buy Outs, start-ups, acquisitions, and divestitures. Robert publishes and speaks on the topics of innovation, collaboration, leadership, and organizational culture.
Most recently Robert was a Managing Director of Public Financial Management (PFM). PFM was a leading financial services firm, providing advisory services to government and non-profit entities in the United States and Europe with over 650 employees and $220 million in annual revenue. PFM’s asset management business had more than $170 billion in assets under management and advisement at the time of the sale of the business.
While at PFM, Robert orchestrated the exploration of strategic alternatives and the ultimate sale of PFM’s businesses in a series of transactions which resulted in the realization of a dramatic increase in value for the owners. The transaction also resulted in the strategic repositioning of PFM’s businesses for dramatic growth and expansion.
Robert’s previous responsibilities included business development and expansion, M&A, strategic planning, financial planning and analysis, risk management, finance, compliance, and organizational development. Along with raising capital and performing a Management Buy Out, Robert accomplished key innovations in the areas of equity capital, international expansion, product and service development, business acquisition and collaboration. He has experience with organizations such as Sciens’ Fund Management, European Financial Realty, FleetBoston, CoreStates Bank, JP Morgan, and Ernst and Young.
Robert has a BS in Accounting and a Master of Science in Finance from Drexel University. He is also completing a Master of Science in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania with only the thesis left to complete.
Robert has held key leadership roles on the following committees: Led Strategic Planning Committee; Led Strategic Initiatives Committee; Visioning Committee; Led Product Development Committee; Corporate Diversity and Inclusion Committee; Led Finance Committee; Led ALCO (Asset and Liability Management Committee); Led Investment Committee; Led Operations Risk Committee; Development Committee; Education Committee; Reimagining Committee and Initiative Lead; SOX Implementation Committee; and Compensation Committee.
Robert has spent his career helping organizations and people to win through innovation and collaboration. He specializes in building and growing businesses and organizations for leaders and constituencies who embrace outsized goals. He is a frequent presenter at national and international conferences regarding organizational development, effective leadership, business expansion, explosive growth strategies and innovation. Robert was also honored as a 2017 CFO of the year in Greater Philadelphia Metropolitan Statistical Area, which encompasses seventeen counties in the Tri-State Region of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
Robert has a passion for helping professional, social, and philanthropic organizations. He is a on the Board of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Kimmel Center Inc. (POKC) where he Chair’s the Audit Committee and serves on the Executive Committee, Governance Committee, the Education and Community Committee, and the Innovation Committee. At the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, he served as the Chair of the Finance Committee and Treasurer in addition to serving on the Executive Committee, the Strategic Initiatives Committee, Complex Transactions Committee, and the Development Committee.
Robert was also a member of the CEO Council for Growth at the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. The Council’s goal is to enhance economic growth and prosperity in the eleven-county region across northern Delaware, southern New Jersey, and southeastern Pennsylvania.
Robert serves as an advisor on a Drexel University’s President’s Leadership Council. He also was a founding member of the Finance Program’s Advisory Committee for Drexel University’s College of Business. Robert is also a member of various nature and natural sciences clubs.
Previously, Robert was on the School Committee of the Abington Friends School where he served as Chairperson of the Finance Committee and Treasurer.
