My name is Dorae Sudell. I am a regional product director for United Healthcare. I was very grateful for the opportunity to join the BLOCS board for children to have an opportunity for a Catholic Education that they may not otherwise have due to their financial restrictions. I attended Catholic schools for 16 years in elementary, high school, and college. My high school was all girls, which gave me confidence in a room full of people regardless of their sex.

My experience going to an all-girls high school was life-changing. It took me many years to realize this, but the strongest female role models I had were the sisters that taught me, and through the Education with the sisters, I could move forward in the world and want to give back. This has allowed me to have a very strong voice no matter who is in the room, which is certainly contributed to not only my career success but also my success on the BLOCS board.

Several years ago, I was asked as a board member to join the executive board. I serve on the scholarship committee, which makes funds available to families for their children to continue their Catholic Education during likely some of the most difficult times. These children need structure and love from the beginning their parents are hard-working and likely working two jobs or three jobs, and the fact that their children are going into these safe and loving environments provides that structure and basis for them to grow.

It's been truly exciting to me to know that we serve so many children and provide them with not only a Catholic Education but a safe and loving environment. I've been on the board as a representative of a corporate sponsor for many years, but this past year was the first year that my husband and I were able to donate directly to EITC and it was so easy I sent an email filled out some forms and got everything I needed to be completed; including where I wanted the money to be sent to. If you are able, BLOCS makes the EITC piece go very quickly and very smoothly.
